Kaimoana work sheet


In Term 3 we have been learning about Early Maori Life for Social Studies.

Our reading programme has been excellent - we have chosen articles to read out of Journals all about Maori life.

This is one of the worksheets we have done, after we finished our buddy reading. We have been learning to write proper sentences using key words from the question and the text.

We learnt about pre european maori earlier this year. We found that the South Island Maori were very migrant. They gathered and smoked much of their fish at Shag point. They preserved it enough to supply them with food while they walked across Central and up the West Coast to gather Pounamu. Greenstone was a valuable commodity to trade. The South Island is called Te Wai o Pounamu because the greenstone was so valuable to our predecessors....
